Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 review

Editing video on a PC, below the professional level, has been dominated by Adobe Premiere Elements and Corel VideoStudio (formerly Ulead VideoStudio). But there have always been other worthy alternatives, and one of the most capable is Sony's Vegas Movie Studio. With each version, Vegas has improved, and now Sony hopes to give Vegas's eleventh incarnation a jump on its competitors by adopting a major feature they don't have yet. The big news is that Vegas 11 now supports editing of stereoscopic 3D footage. There still aren't that many camcorders available which can shoot this format, with just a smattering of models available from JVC, Panasonic and Sony, such as JVC's Everio GS-TD1, or Panasonic's HDC-SDT750, HDC-TM900 and HDC-SD90.

Review: Don't miss Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla

February 11, 2013 10:09 IST Paresh C Palicha says Fahadh Faasil  is the heart and soulNatholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla  as he carries the whole film on his shoulder with ease. The turmoil that a writer goes through while creating characters and  preventing them from taking a life of their own can be looked at from the philosophical to outright whacky way. Director V. K. Prakash does it in a whacy way in his new film  Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla  written by Shankar Ramakrishnan with Fahadh Faasil in the lead. This film bordering on beingAvant-gardetells the story of a writer who has to work as a caretaker in an apartment building in Kochi for a living.

Age of the Dragons: Moby-Dick without whales

Herman Melville's Moby-Dick is considered a landmark of western literature. It's an inventive, allegorical meditation on obsession, revenge, religion and the limits of human control. But is it perfect? No, it is not. Nor is John Huston's 1956 cinematic take on the story; while it may be a beautifully shot and remarkably faithful adaptation of Melville's work, it leaves plenty of room for improvement. So thank heavens for Age of the Dragons. It's a fresh retelling of Moby-Dick that, if the trailer is any indication, vastly improves on both Huston's adaptation and the original source novel itself.

Grindhouse (2007)

Kill Bill director Quentin Tarantino and Sin City director Robert Rodriguez join forces to offer a cinematic tribute to the blood-soaked exploitation epics of yesteryear with this hyper-violent coupling of two full-length features punctuated by a collection of outrageous trailers. The first segment, directed by Rodriguez and entitled Planet Terror, details the violent struggle between a ravenous army of zombie-like humanoids who have taken control of the planet and the remaining survivors who refuse to go down without a fight. Freddy Rodriguez, Naveen Andrews, and Rose McGowan headline a cast that also includes Marley Shelton, Michael Biehn, Josh Brolin, Bruce Willis, and Tom Savini.

Golimaar is a typical masala film

May 27, 2010 15:19 IST T he title Golimaar (Telugu) itself is indicative of violence. And the film supposedly inspired by the famous encounter specialist Daya Nayak (around whom other films like Ab tak Chappan and Kagaar in Hindi and a Kannada film Encounter Daya Nayak were made a few years ago) scripted and directed by Puri Jagannadh, isfull of violence. Puri makes it in his typical style; loads of action, songs and dance, foreign locale (here it's Kuala Lumpur and Lankawi), slickness in technique and the hero mouthing punchy dialogues catering to the masses! T Gopichand and Priyamani are the lead protagonists.
