All other teachers seem to be effective, and my child seems to be learning in a productive environment. My child has only been attending for a few weeks, and I can say that the math department has been exceptionally unhelpful. Other teachers seem to be supportive, and I am starting to have to pull in help to try and engage with a math department who seems uninterested in anything other than a narrow definition of what a BCMS student should be, without elaborating on this enough up front.

Should homework be banned?

I am a high school junior, every day I get 12+ pages of homework minimum. Because I cannot possibly do all of this and help around the house as I am the only one able to do so, and therefore I have no time to study my material and therefore my test grades suffer as a result. It's basically forcing students to go home after a stressful day of school and activities and do pointless homework. Teachers should be teaching these things in class, not making the students learn it themselves. It's preventing children from leading balanced lifestyles, with a healthy amount of sleep and activities to keep them fit and active.

Lies, statistics and the future of Sedgehill

Homework Helpline / Homework Helpline

The Homework Helpline offers free homework help for students in grades 1 through 12.  The Helpline is staffed by Pinellas County Schools teachers who are certified in math, science, language arts and social studies.  Helpline teachers have access to textbooks commonly used in the district and can assist students with homework in most subjects.  Homework help is available from 5 to 8 p. m. Monday through Thursday, on all school days except when there is no school the following day.
