Put simply, every action you take on social networks should be a part of a larger social media marketing strategy. That means every post, reply, like, and comment should all be guided by a plan that’s driving toward business goals. It might sound complicated, but if you take the time to create a comprehensive social media strategy, the rest of your social efforts should follow naturally.

The Only 10 Slides You Need in Your Pitch

I am evangelizing the 10/20/30 Rule of PowerPoint. It’s quite simple: a pitch should have ten slides, last no more than twenty minutes, and contain no font smaller than thirty points. This rule is applicable for any presentation to reach agreement: for example, raising capital, making a sale, forming a partnership, etc. Ten slides. Ten is the optimal number of slides in a PowerPoint presentation because a normal human being cannot comprehend more than ten concepts in a meeting—and venture capitalists are very normal. (The only difference between you and venture capitalist is that he is getting paid to gamble with someone else’s money).

Reality TV Show Business Plan

The reality TV show business plan is a very interesting document to try to piece together. Like with a film pitch or a proposal to get funding for a book or an art project, the medium itself is highly subjective and making a case for its profitability is a tricky affair. Your best with the reality TV show business plan is to approach the document much the same way you would think about a pitch. Can you describe the concept and talk about how similar programs have been successful? Is there any research available about what a comparable show helped generate in sponsorship revenues, increased viewership, and so forth? This is the sort of data you need to search for.

Burrill Business Plan Competition This Friday!

I started competing in 2006 as a partner to Justin Beck (one of PerBlue‘s founders) pitching the idea for a dual screen laptop: Dual screen laptop prototype, ignore the fingers holding up the second screen and the impossibly clean laptop (with the wireless pcmcia adapter – remember those?). We did eventually build a functional prototype before the competition and had it working – fake it until you make it.
